So, instead of lamenting that you blinked and it’s now mid-July, don’t panic, we’ve still got a whole half a year left. From today, get your mantra on and write, breathe and believe that “there is always enough time” and know that you can do anything if the reasons for doing it are clear enough. Follow this Quality Question plan and in only 10 weeks you will have reclaimed the year – with a few months left over too.
In general, with a plan, and some determination, 10 weeks is plenty of time to
– drop a dress size
– Increase your speed
– Start, perfect and embed a good cardio vascular routine intro life, or even to
– Do a headstand in yoga
July – July is freezing here in Sydney and from personal experience I know that everything is harder in the dark and in the cold. Making changes will require good questions, discipline and a plan. Starting with an honest understanding of why you want to achieve something is the quickest route to success.
1/ What is my ultimate goal
2/ What are ten reasons why I’d love to achieve it
3/ Why would I love to achieve it in the next 10 weeks (10 reasons)
4/ What are 3 manageable stages of my goal (schedule them ahead in your diary)
Put a check list on the fridge and in your diary and mark off each stage as you go
August – You are now in your stride and it should be getting lighter and the load easier. However, the classic Six Week slump is in August, so plan for it. If you are starting to slacken off towards the end, then it’s time to make sure you don’t sabotage your own efforts. It’s time to ask
1/ Who can help keep me on track (e.g training buddy or exercise professional)?
2/ Who of my friends and family will support me?
3/ Why is it getting harder?
3/ How will I feel if I give up now?
4/ How does achieving my goal feel?
5/ Am I being honest with myself about why and what I want to achieve?
September – Spring at last and you’ll be on the home stretch. Your program may need tweaking and you may have already achieved your goals. Now is the time to ask yourself :
1/ Am I enjoying this program?
2/ What else could I do to make it more fun, manageable and effective?
3/ How can this be maintained long term?
4/ How has sticking to this program affected other areas of my life (list both positive and negative) ?
5/ Has it been worthwhile?
Having followed this plan, the final question is “How can I congratulate myself for rescuing 2015 from obscurity”?. You now OWN 2015! YEOWW!
