Fat Free Mama is proud to present our Inspirational Mama!
We are constantly interviewing and gathering tips from some of the most glamorous, intelligent women you could meet, who all have kids, relationships and homes like us.
We kick off with the awesome and original Sweaty Betty, England’s Tamara Hill-Norton who dreamt of fabulous sportswear for women and just couldn’t find it! 27 shops, Sports retailer of the year (2001), Entrepreneur of the year (2003) and Drapers Customer Service of the year award (2007) all nicely tucked under their fashionably clad belts – Sweaty Betty has gone from strength to strength – and she’s only 38.
With 3 kids (aged 8, 6 and 2.5), 1 rabbit and 1 husband Tamara manages by being a “meticulous planner” and “learning that not everything needs to be perfect” .. although this one is still a challenge! Tamara loves fitness, sport and exercise and uses it as “me” time for escaping everything and “girls time” when she gets together with friends. Apart from an opportunity to road test some of her cool clothing, Tamara exercises so she doesn’t have to diet. … We’re loving this Fat Free Mama and we could ask her a thousand questions – but with great discipline we limit it to three.
1. What is Your Philosophy?
Be passionate and focused about what you do and you will achieve and be happy
2. What is Your Get through anything tip?
Do whatever it takes to find calm and be relaxed (through presentations/childbirth/raising children/marriage/work etc etc !!) “…NOT wine! .. Ed”
3. What is your ultimate health/fitness tip?
Every mum says they have no time to exercise –I include it in my daily routine: cycle to work/school, do a yoga session in the office with the team and I get the kids into fitness/exercise as early as possible so we can do it all together.
